Magnetic Prosthesis and Implant

At Ocular Prosthetics, Inc. we are constantly researching and using new techniques to maximize our patients’ satisfaction of their new implant. We recently became one of the first Ocularists to fit a Magnetic Prosthesis. With a Magnetic Prosthesis, we create a more secure attachment of the prosthesis to the implant and as result can enhance the movement of the implant similar to a natural eye.

Here’s how it works. The Surgeon places a magnetic screw into the implant at the time of surgery. When suitable, the Ocularist places a magnetic disc into the back surface of the Ocular Prosthesis, creating a secure hold on to the implant, increasing movement.
